Our Lady of Good Health Hospital
Kabale, Uganda
At Our Lady of Good Health Hospital in Rushoroza, patient linens have traditionally been washed and dried entirely by hand. For a busy hospital providing essential medical and maternity care, access to reliable commercial laundry equipment is more than a convenience—it is an important part of sanitation, infection prevention, and quality patient care.
Bright Smiles launched a two-phase project to help provide the hospital with a commercial-grade laundry system.
Phase One: Commercial Washing Machine — FUNDED
With months of fundraising and the critical support and partnership of Mission Doctors Association, Bright Smiles secured $14,538 to purchase and install a commercial washing machine at the hospital.
The new washer will help reduce the manual handling of soiled linens while providing a more consistent and controlled laundering process.
Phase Two: Commercial Dryer — FUNDED
Our Work Isn't Finished.
With $27,538 raised, Bright Smiles has successfully secured full funding for the hospital's commercial washing machine and dryer.
Hospital linens are currently dried outdoors, making the process particularly challenging during Uganda's rainy seasons. The new commercial dryer will allow the hospital to dry clean linens reliably throughout the year, improving sanitation, supporting infection prevention, and helping ensure patients have access to clean linens.
Our next step is to work with our partners to bring this fully funded laundry system into operation.
Looking Ahead
The laundry project is one step in Bright Smiles’ larger commitment to supporting healthcare in Uganda.
Bright Smiles will continue listening to local healthcare leaders and communities to understand where resources can make the greatest difference. Through fundraising, partnerships, and grant opportunities, we hope to help turn locally identified needs into sustainable improvements in medical resources, technology, training, and access to quality care.
Our goal is simple: listen first, build strong partnerships, and help connect good ideas with the resources needed to make them possible.

Our vision is a hospital where healthcare workers have the resources they need to provide safe, dignified, high-quality care—and where every patient has access to clean, reliable hospital linens, regardless of the season.
